According to sources from the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), budget issues have blasted a major concern due to the Government backing out on their financial support with grants. CEO of Southern Nuclear stated the contractors only have roughly 300 million left in budget, with FLUOR on their way out after staying past their contracted agreement period other companies fear getting involved due to risks of major losses. Westinghouse refuses to take on full liability. We can't fork the needed difference out to our customers anymore with regulations.
After speaking with management only via emails they're main worry is having to layoff 5000 employees with no notice they were even afraid to break the bad news to the craft. The fault behind it all is so many lawsuits against the contractors between each other or employees. This is heart breaking being the leading job in the country at the moment but crushes dreams of more reactors being constructed in the future across the country. No more information was released.
