Jessica Bastien 36, of South County was arrested this morning after allegedly stabbing a Quik Trip employee in the eye causing "serious injury". According to police, at approximately 7:15 am, Ms. Bastien in what police called, "a highly intoxicated state", purchased a Steak Taquito from the Quik Trip located at 8000 Watson Road, and exited the store. Ms. Bastien then returned to the store a short time later and complained to the clerk that the taquito was cold. Apparently, Ms. Bastien didn't like the reply the clerk gave because Ms. Bastien then jumped over the counter and began repeatedly stabbing the clerk in the eye. When police arrived on scene, Ms. Bastien stated, "I love you guys!" and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Ms. Bastien was apprehended without further incident. Ms. Bastien's request for a cigarette was promptly denied. Ms. Bastien is currently being held on a $500 cash only bond.
