Residents of the Grand Strand have been given voluntary evacuation orders to leave the coastline in preparation of Hurricane Maria's expected landfall on Monday. After the images of Harvey, Irma, and now the complete devastation of Puerto Rico by Maria, residents are very concerned.

88 year old Ima Goner began packing her diabetes meds along with her 17 feral cats a few days early, just in case it took 3 days to gather the cats. She told Stormteam news that she was concerned as last time her shelter was near Wong's House of Chinese cuisine, and out of 23 cats, only 17 returned.

Retired peanut farmer I D Getthout remembers the last storm well. It took a few minutes for him to remember where he put the VHS copy to show us what the last storm was like. He remembers vividly the arthritis flare in his back when he had to go out back and set the patio chair back up when the wind gust blew it over.

Flooding is also a concern. Spokesman for Myrtle Beach utilities Mr Watters explained the need to stay away from the storm surge and inlets. Last storm washed in some gators and they filmed Crocodile Dundee III here as a result. Nobody remembers the movie though since it was never released.

Those with vacation plans next week are urged to find a different vacation spot that's not Texas, Florida, or in the Caribbean. The only sand not touched by a hurricane this season is near Cleveland, and god knows what you'll find in the sand there.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
