WASHINGTON (PA) — In the ongoing FBI investigation into corruption and fraud in college basketball, a highly placed Justice department source speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the investigation, revealed that over 200 parents have been recruited to serve as on-the-ground informants in this ever expanding probe. The source could not reveal exactly when this occurred but said the intent was for parents to gather information via social media, text, phone, and personal conversations in order to turn over to the FBI for evidence. It was also revealed that the top 50 high school basketball powerhouses would be looked at for grade manipulation and relationships with recruiters. It appears that the FBI is leaving no stone unturned in what is believed to be the largest federal investigation in college history. “They must be going after the low level street agents and college recruiters to send a message because kids have been getting screwed over for years” said Raheem Devant, a local basketball trainer in the Prince George area. The local shoe team, Team Takeover, was contacted for comments but they have not responded thus far.

The FBI arrested 10 people on charges of fraud and corruption in men's college basketball on Tuesday. The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that assistant coaches at Arizona, Auburn, USC, and Oklahoma State had been arrested along with managers, financial advisers, and representatives of the international sportswear company Adidas. Jim Gatto, the director of global sports marketing for basketball at Adidas, was among the defendants. Gatto is accused of conspiring with coaches to pay high-school athletes to play at universities sponsored by Adidas (referred to as "Company 1" in the case). The investigation, which had been in progress since 2015, was led by the FBI and the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Three separate complaints have been filed. Gatto and four other defendants have been charged with "making and concealing bribe payments" to high-school student athletes and/or their families. Rick Pitino the Louisville head coach along with the AD Tom Jurich have been placed on unpaid administrative leave and are expected to be fired.

The wide ranging investigation promises to be the basketball news of the year. One can only speculate what the end results will reveal but we can be assured that the landscape of college, travel, and elite basketball will be altered for the foreseeable future.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
