Police warn public after Black Lake, Sk cougar sighting.

Police and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment are advising Black Lake residents of a confirmed cougar sighting in the town.
The animal was spotted at around 6:30 a.m. CT on Friday in the area of the main highway. The cougar was last seen heading west away from Black Lake into a forested area.
Officials said the cougar may still be in close vicinity of the town.
The ministry is reminding people that although chances of seeing a cougar are slim, they need to be aware of the animal’s existence in the area and practice caution.
People are encouraged to stand up, make themselves look big, shout loudly and throw something to distract the animal. They should back away to a safe distance while maintaining eye contact.
Any person that comes in contact with the animal should fight back and never play dead. After the animal has left, people should keep watching it until they reach safety.
Anyone who encounters a cougar in the town is asked to contact Black Lake police at 306-439-2185 or 911 or the Ministry of Environment office TIP line at 1-800-667-7561.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation.
