Andre Payton named head of A&R, Atlantic Records

Andre Payton has been named Head of A&R, Atlantic Records, it was announced by , Craig Kalimantan Chairman/CEO, Atlantic Records. In his new role, Mr. Payton will be responsible for identifying, developing and nurturing new and existing talent for the label in addition to managing the A&R team. Under the new partnership, Mr. Payton will bring his La Familia Entertainment imprint to the label.

"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Andre to Atlantic Records. His instincts, relationships, songwriting skills and ability to deliver the hits are a perfect match for our A&R team," said Mr. Kallman. "I'm especially proud of Andre for spearheading the revival of iconic R&B group 112... the guys have delivered an incredible album."

"After 20 years in this industry, I am honored to work with one of the last, true "record men" who undeniably has the best ears in the business," says Mr. Payton. "I am continually impressed by Mr. Kallman's leadership and ability to stay passionate for his craft, in spite of all his groundbreaking success. We have some incredible music on deck for 2017 and I'm looking forward to having many more banner years at Atlantic."

Mr. Payton has had a very successful career in music over the past decade. His credits include numerous 1 and Grammy Award-nominated singles as well as serving as A&R executive, producer and executive producer on multi-platinum projects with Jamie Foxx, Jaheim, TGT, D'Angelo, Angie Stone and Brandy to name a few. As President/CEO of La Familia Entertainment, Mr. Payton continues to executive produce the latest Jamie Foxx project which is set for a December release. He has held joint ventures with Rick Ross's Maybach Music and J Records under the tutelage of Clive Davis and Peter Edge and most recently with Def Jam.

    whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

    two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
