A large number of the huge Green River Python Snakes has congregated in the lowland areas of Hartford, KY in search of wintering quarters. This huge reptile species has grown out of control in the Western KY area of the Green River in the past few years. They were first introduced into the Everglade area of FL. and have spread up the rivers into the South East United States the past few years, but have become quite populated in the warm deep waters of the Green River especially in the Ohio County area.
They are not aggressive toward humans unless confronted or crowded. However, they do often get under cars and search warm places to stay. They also have shown up going through sewers and have entered several homes through the sewers into the bathrooms.
