Independence, LA (WAFB) - Six suspects have been arrested in connection to dog fighting. One suspect remains at large.
Joe De'Vonte Washington 22, is wanted for dog fighting, Sheriff Edwards said. Washington was the unidentified subject in one of the photographs below.

Tywaun Heard, 23, and Jamie Deon Grant, 22, were arrested Monday, Oct 24 according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. The two suspects were charged with dog fighting. The arrestees were transported to the Tangipahoa Parish jail

Dashaun A. White, 23; Melvin D. Hardwick Jr., 20; Antwan White, 25; and Shala Armstrong, 23, were arrested following an investigation into drug distribution and quality of life issues in the Independence community. The four individuals were taken to the Tangipahoa Parish jail and are awaiting formal charges.

Officials said after two executed search warrants, heroin, marijuana and other narcotics were seized. 12 dogs were impounded; 2 treadmills and conditioning equipment where seized. Anyone with any info or whereabouts of Washington's is ask to call the Tangipahoa Parish Jail

The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
