NKY- A Local Country Singer signed a record deal launching his career as a country-music singer.

In a few weeks you'll be hearing his song blaring from radios across the country, written and performed by Zach McIntosh/ Sam Hunt - MCA Records

With a name like that, you might say he was born to be a country music star. But McIntosh will be the first one to tell you it's taken much more than his name to make a name for himself.

"There's really no down time. There's no vacation. I'm either working, spending time with my wife and kids or I'm on the road singing somewhere," said Zach

"I have four incredible years of touring on the road ahead of me and seeing how music can impact peoples lives, i'm excited to meet everyone"

Riggs tried the TV reality show route.

"I actually tried out for Nashville Star, American idol, and the latest show the Voice, you arrive and realize that all these people have this same dream. But bottom line, it comes down to perseverance and passion. You get 100 "No's before 1 "Yes". But ill take it!!

"They took some of my songs to this round table of Nashville critics who decides is it good or is it bad and they decided I have three songs that were probably good enough to be top 20 hits," he said.

McIntosh says ultimately it'll be up to fans to decide if the music is good or not. He thinks his passion will be the seed that will sell it to them.

McIntosh will be giving a concert on December 6th at 7:00 pm. Location TBA

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
