CATHEDRAL CITY, CA - A man who assaulted a Cathedral City store clerk during a robbery, leaving the victim hospitalized, is believed to still be somewhere in the area, police said
The man entered Pony Express Western Outfitters at 68535 E. Palm Canyon Drive on Monday and assaulted the clerk while robbing the business, said Lt. Glen Haas of the Cathedral City Police Department.
The clerk, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized as a result of the assault, Haas said, but the extent of the victim's injuries was not released.
The suspect was described as white, between 16 and 17 years old and about 6 feet tall, with a thin build.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation.
