CLEVELAND, Ohio- An Ohio teen with a dine and dash habit has been jailed for three years after she skipped out on a restaurant bill for $70.
The dine and dash jail sentence followed, prosecutors say, an unpaid $70 tab at Outback Steakhouse in Parma. Defendant Alexus A. New, 16, was convicted of a similar restaurant theft just prior to the Parma incident, but apparently was not deterred from repeating the crime that landed her in prison.
On Oct. 31st, restaurant workers said, New ran up the $70 tab at the Outback Steakhouse by ordering an appetizer, drinks, and dinner.
When the check arrived, they explained, New simply said she was unable to pay the amount and caused no other trouble while police responded. While a three year sentence may seem unusually harsh, a local news source reports that the teens record and previous instances of dine and dash run-ins was part of the sentencing decision.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow.
