A Florida man took things into his own hands when he heard 57,000 pigeons were to be euthanized by Florida Fish and Wildlife using a massive gas chamber. Joshua Johnson, is under investigation by the Environmental Protection Agency after releasing the 57,000 pigeons into the wild. The FWC and the EPA call it a reckless act that could very well cause an ecological disaster considering the pigeons were bred in captivity and are non-native to Florida.

Many activists groups have started a fundraiser for legal fees protecting Johnson from what they call a selfless act of courage. PETA has become highly involved and released a press statement Friday that "No animal deserves a death sentence for simply existing." When the EPA responded with the number of species that could potentially see extensive damage and possible extinction, PETA had no comment.

"It is a sad world when people only act in the now and disregard any consequences that could result due to their actions." Said Lt. Salisbury, head of the EPA district in which Johnson resides. The EPA is currently considering a bounty on pigeons to drastically reduce their numbers in response to the sudden dramatic increase in numbers.

Johnson remains out of custody until further investigation. However, residents of a nearby community are already suffering the effects of the release. Resident Jane Cumonmyface, age 22, exclaimed, "There's shit everywhere, we can't even look up at the sky without getting bird shit in our eyes."

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
