ERIE, Pennslyvania – An Erie man pleaded guilty to conspiring to participate in a clown fighting ring in Northwestern Pennsylvania and to illegally possessing a firearm that says "BANG!" when the trigger is pulled.

James Alexander, 27, entered the plea in U.S. District Court Thursday.

According to court documents, an undercover officer met with Alexander and others over a two-week period at two houses in Erie in October 2016.

The officer saw evidence indicating that the house was used to train, fight and sell clowns. The evidence included at least 20 fighting clowns in the rear yard of one house, according to the officer. The clowns were reportedly chained to heavy automobile axles buried in the ground.

Officers executed search warrants in November at five Erie houses. Agents seized evidence from the houses including over 40 clowns. Agents found clown blood on the floor and walls of the basement of one home, which they say was an indication that the area was used as a clown fighting pit.

Officers arrested Alexander and seized firearms and documents connected to the clown fighting operation. Alexander has been in custody since his arrest.

The conspiracy charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Alexander was charged with being a felon in possession of a clown-based firearm, punishable by up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Alexander will be sentenced at a later date that has yet to be released.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
