UL student and Clare native Douglas Lynch was hit with the news today that he had failed to secure a Co-Operative job placement with Bristol Myers Squibb, in Blanchardstown, County Dublin.

The 19 year old West Clare native who plays football with Naomh Eoin Junior Football Club, and has an address at Rehy, Cross, Co. Clare, attended an interview with the Bio-Pharmaceutical firm on campus in the University on Thursday morning.

Speaking to media afterwards, Lynch was quoted as saying, "Ya hello? I thought that went very well now, they kept asking about my previous jobs so I talked up the caddying and the scaffolding as much as I could. D'you want to go to the Paddocks for grub?"

Asked if there were any worrying moments within the interview, Lynch made reference to when he was question upon moving to Dublin for the job; "they asked me alright if I minded moving to Dublin, I was going to be honest at first but then I was like no, I better say "yeah, it's grand like" ".
He finished his interview on a positive one, "Yeah, it definitely went well for me, I'd be very confident of getting that now".

Unfortunately Lynch was ultimately disappointed 2 hours later when he received the news that the job had been offered to another candidate. He did not offer much insight into his feelings when speaking to friends; "no I didn't get it, fuck it anyway".

Lynch will now have to look towards his next interview, when it comes in 6 months time.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
