The Kansas City Chiefs have traded a future 3rd and 4th round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for Tony Romo, the team announced today. Romo, 36 coming off a back injury sustained last season allowed for the rise of rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.

In the last two seasons Romo has only played in a total of 5 games due to sustained injury problems, and hasn’t played a full season since 2014. A trade that may come as a surprise to most due to the fact that the Chiefs already have an established starting quarterback. But, as Peter King comments Kansas City fans have been saying since the season ended with a playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the general feeling is that Alex Smith is definitely a good enough quarterback if a winning record is your goal, but he also has an apparent ceiling and is incapable of putting an offense on his back, much to the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. The Chiefs are 1-3 in the playoffs with Smith as their quarterback. The losses were to Andrew Luck and the Colts, Tom Brady and the Patriots and Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. His only playoff win came against Brian Hoyer and the Texans. With this trade it seems as the Front office believes that quarterback may indeed be what separates the Chiefs from the teams in the conference championship games. Romo may be the answer to this, as he threw for 34 touchdowns passes over 15 games in 2014. That’s more than twice the number Smith had in 2016. Romo threw for a career-high 4,900 yards as recently as 2012. While Smith threw a career high of 3,500 yards in 2016.

The Chiefs window is right now with a playoff-caliber defense and offensive weapons aplenty with a full draft class to add to the mix, as we see John Dorsey believing the same making a deal with future draft picks instead of 2017 picks. Dorsey must believe that this window is quickly closing and that this addition and a couple key hits within the upcoming draft can finally get the Kansas City Chiefs over the hump and into National Title contender. Certainly acquiring Romo is a bold move by the Chiefs front office, and one that comes with many risks. But after losing in the divisional round of the playoffs in each of the past two years, the Chiefs are making moves to add more offensive fire power to the team. But, with Romo coming off a serious back injury can he still be the guy to highlight the Chiefs offensive players in the crunch time of the playoffs is another question. Alex Smith has had his chance to do this and has failed to show up in those key games. With the vulnerability of Romo still a question we might even see tandem quarterback play calling in the Chiefs back-field in order to give Romo more rest on the sideline and decrease the chances of him getting hurt before the Chiefs can try and make another late run in the playoffs of the 2017 season.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
