Lamb Of God have officially announced a breakup tour, lead vocalist Randy Blythe made word yesterday that after 23 years of making music that the band would finish up with an 'explosive' set of shows starting in hometown Richmond, Virginia. The American groove metal band consisting of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell and drummer Chris Adler came together to make an all important decision to call it quits yesterday. Since 1994, Lamb Of God have released eight studio albums, one live album, one compilation album and three DVDs whilst the band has gained sales equal to almost two million in the United States alone.

Randy Blythe, Lamb Of God Vocalist, gave us a heart wrenching statement yesterday regarding the bands recent decision:

"This isn't really something me and the boys could see coming and it's definitely something we had to think about. We all have something going for us now, family and such but you need to prioritise those all important things in life, my family is an important one. They come first. They always will come first.

I don't disregard the fans at all because in fact they made my life one of hell of a ride but a rollercoaster has to stop sometime and I think that perfect time is now. I have honestly enjoyed my time with Lamb Of God and these years will live on till the day I die."

You can read an official statement from the band below:

"We would like to start of with thanking our fans, friends and family for all the support we have been given over the past 23 years.

After a long road with many ups and downs, good times and bad, it is time to end an era and move onto more important chapters in each of our lives. There is no inner turmoil or hard feelings but full on love from each of us whilst we made this mutual decision.

We would like to thank that support from John Allen, our manager, who has put in every last effort to make this journey something spectacular as well as Sony Music who have done excellent work in keeping the train chugging.

We've launched a discount merch store for those who've wanted to pick up something on the last few tours but didn't have the cash night of, that can be checked out here:

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
