Hill Top Creamery, a local ice cream shop located in Benzonia, Michigan shutdown today due to the owner being linked to a kidnapping homicide that happened earlier this week in Arcadia Township.
Brad Zilenski, 38, of Buela, Michigan is currently being held in Benzi Jail without bail after confessing to being involved in the kidnapping and murder of Ava Williams, a 19-year-old woman from Arcadia Township.
On top of greiving the loss of a local girl, the community is also mourning the closing of Hill Top Creamery, formerly owned by Zilenski.
"I knew the Zilenski family personally and I would've never thought Brad would be involved in something like this," says Christy Lawberg, 43, of Mesick. "My kids were crushed when I told them that their favorite ice cream shop closed. I know many others feel the same."
Despite the grief surrounding Hill Top's closing, the employees decided to give out free "bloody sundaes" yesterday as a thank you to the community.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow.
