A new restaurant opened this week in Oaklawn, Texas, a subdivision of Dallas County. This is not your normal "family friendly" establishment for sure! This place caters to a different crowd, people looking for a bit of excitement in the meal instead of the normal hum-drum entrees seen elsewhere.
The main dish I ordered was called "Not ya Daddy's Meatballs". It is a twist on the traditional spagetti and meatballs. Truthfully, in this writers opinion, it tastes like a mediocre pasta dish. What made it worth my time though, was how the meal was arranged. I got a good laugh out of it.
Dessert was a tad bit better in the flavor department, unlike the entree that reminded me of a frozen T.V dinner. The ice cream was very creamy, the chocolate sauce was divine, and again, the arrangment was that you would expect to find at a bachelorette party.
The COCKtails were great, sexy names and tropical flavors.
The atmosphere was fun, mostly young men on dates and a rowdy crowd of women in the corner booth.
All in all, I would say that I don't expect this place to stay open for long, once the novelty wears off. So, if your "up" for a good time and some laughes, come try a dish.

    whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
