SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
A 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 65-year-old woman and then stealing her car was arrested Monday night after assaulting another woman.
Salem police arrested Nick Martinez Swindle Monday night after Swindle attacked a woman in a parking garage on State Street.
Police reported that when officers arrived on scene, Swindle ran and officers chased him on foot through the neighborhood and several residences before capturing him in a neighborhood apartment.
The victim and Swindle were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
Swindle was released from the hospital on Tuesday and was booked into the Marion County Jail.
According to police, Swindle is connected to a sexual assault that happened Monday morning.
Police say Swindle broke into a 65-year-old woman's home in Northeast Salem, physically and sexually assaulted her, then stole her car. The car was located Monday night in the area of Southeast Commercial Street.
Swindle is being charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, kidnap in the first degree, assault in the second degree, burglary in the first degree, sodomy in the first degree, and sex abuse in the first degree.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild.
