Did you know that baking soda, Vitamin C and Vinegar is an incredibly easy way to clean your hair? Yep, the rumors are true. What shocked me even more than the fact that this actually works is how much better my hair began to look when I started using this combo compared to traditional shampoo!

I’m a complete DIY gal when it comes to my beauty routine and I’m always on a mission to reduce my exposure to potentially harmful chemicals, so I was psyched that this method gave me such great results.

You might be wondering: what's so bad about regular shampoos? Well, they can contain a lot of harmful ingredients. Some of the worst chemical-offenders are:

sodium Sodium Lauryl
Laureth Sulfate
DEA/Diethanolamine
Parabens
Fragrance
The word fragrance might not sound so bad, but on a label, it can mean the presence of over 4,000 separate chemical ingredients. How scary is that?!

Baking Soda, Vitamin C And Vinegar Shampoo Method:

1.) Mix 1 cup baking soda and enough water to make a paste. Filtered works best. Make a paste mixture, and massage into your hair, and then leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. If your hair gets oily only 2 days after washing it, do the 10 minutes.
2.) Mix vitamin C tablets and hot water to form a paste, and apply this to your hair. Leave it on for an hour before rinsing.
3.) Douse your hair with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water. I also add lavender, peppermint, and/or rosemary essential oils to the vinegar mixture.
I like to mix a big batch of this ahead of time and keep it in a squeeze bottle in the shower.
4.) Then cover your head with a shower cap for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water. The cool water helps to seal in moisture, smooth the hair, and add shine. I have curly hair and have noticed that this really made a difference with eliminating frizz and static.

Do this everyday for a week, to cleanse your scalp. And then after that the results are brilliant. Quite literally. My hair looks incredible! Without an ounce of residue or any residual oiliness. My hair is full, yet shiny and frizz-free.
My hair doesn't get oily the next day, or the day after that. In fact it was at least eight days before the crown of my head began to show some slight greasiness.
Truly, baking soda, vitamin C and vinegar are a great hair care regimen!!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
