Billboard is slated to add in four new music genres to the existing official list of music genres. The new music genres are; Zoo music, Zoo rock and Zoo punk. Zoo music is described by Billboard as music that is often played at zoo's and typically feature Ole ole's and a specific set rhythm (usually a specific type of drum beat although it's not restricted to that). Early zoo music include The Token's The Lion Sleeps Tonight released in 1961 although the song dates back to 1939. Zoo music would not appear to a wider audience until the 1980's when many musicians and bands started incorporating it into their music. Gloria Estevan would have a hit in the zoo music market with Rhythm Is Gonna Get You. Duran Duran would also incorporate this genre into their hit song The Reflex by adding in Ole ole's to the beginning and the middle part of the song. A subgenre of Zoo music that incorporates Rock, Indie rock/pop and alternative rock (mostly in post-1980's material) music known as Zoo rock would emerge. This style would be influenced by the work of Buster Poindexter (David Johansen) most notably his cover of Arrow's Hot Hot Hot. A third subgenre known as Zoo punk, which combines Zoo music with Punk rock, Pop punk, Ska punk (sometimes) and sometimes Hardcore punk and Metalcore (but less often. This fusion is occasionally refereed to as Zoocore) would appear in the 90's. A good example of this would be The Offspring's Why Don't You Get A Job. Even though the song lacks the Ole ole vocals, they aren't always required for a song to make it classify as Zoo music as the instruments alone can be enough to classify it as zoo music which is the case here due to a drum beat that gives the song a distinct Zoo music feel atop Pop punk vocals with occasional elements of Ska punk which allows the song to be classified as Zoo punk. It is not known whether or not a specific chart will be made for this but if there is, it would just be called the Billboard Hot Zoo Music Chart which would encompass Zoo music, Zoo rock and Zoo punk with Zoo rock and Zoo punk charting on their respective rock charts related to the genre of music fused (I.E. Zoo rock would chart on the Hot Zoo Music Chart and the rock charts such as Alternative songs. Zoo punk would do the same as well) Should they launch a zoo music chart, songs that pre-date the chart would not be factored in as if the chart was around when those songs were released. Instead, for those songs to hit the zoo music chart, they would have to become popular again (I.E. Through uses in advertising etc)

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
