West Wind. Once an upper-middle class subdivision in the Hueytown community, now is becoming a place of intense controversy. Neighbors are upset. Tempers are flying. The police are being called daily. What is all the drama surrounding? "Filth, hoarding, and rotten smells are coming out of that house." one concerned neighbor tells Fox 6 News.

The Hueytown City Council plans to hear resident complaints this upcoming Tuesday night. Michael Pickens, a member of the council spoke with us briefly on Wednesday: "Something is going to have to be done. We are working in conjunction with the Jefferson Co Health Department. It most likely will come in the form of a city ordinance."

A Mr. Zanders who lives in the neighborhood spoke candidly about the issue: "We cant even go outside. The smell will knock you down. I'm concerned about the trick-or-treaters next month. Their safety is at risk."

After speaking with the Jefferson County Health Department we learned they will not comment into ongoing investigations but did say they were well aware of this situation. The state health and sanitary living condition laws do apply to individual homeowners. If found guilty the Health Department can remove you from your home and fine you up to $10,000.

Local police have warned residents not to take the law into their own hands and allow due process of the law to bring about change. The city council will address this issue on Tuesday night, September 26th at their regular scheduled meeting.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
