The State of Jefferson, a political movement spurred mostly in the northern parts of California and southern portions of Oregon, to divide this state along it's hemisphers is yet again gathering steam. It may now have gathered enough steam, to be problematic for the southern part of the state or what would then become California, if the Jeffersonian's have their way.

Signatores, on the measure that would secure the State of Jefferson have not only reached the required threshold, but have surpassed it in numbers never thought possible. What began as a fringe movement politicians didn't think would gain momentum, has gone the way of President Trump's winning of the 2016 election and the unfortunate loss of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in her bid for the White House.

Two sides to every story right? Those against and those for, but the dilemma lyes in between. The more politically active Tea Party esque in the north and the silent minority of the south. There are no small number of the States assembly who can see the quagmire created by the rift. Dividing the state would divide the responsibility, but if only it were that easy. The real question is how do you divide the social and financially burdensome responsibilities and do so in a manner that's equitable, but also in a way that leaves both sides financially solvent when, if the task, the state, is divided.

In this financial locomotive how do California and Jefferson, distribute their fianaicial obligations. Jeffersonian's would argue it's never been fair, as they've been covering this obligation for years, while (southern) Calfirornia has been the receiver of the wealth received. The majority of tax income earned in what is still California, for the time being, is from the northern portion of the state or what may become the State of Jefferson, with some $94 billion in tax revenue generated annually. A fair portion of the southern parts of California usually see a deficit or tax revenue liability resulting from underprivileged minority groups and expenditures resulting from immigration reform efforts caused by recently appointed Presidnet Trump.

The most recentl financial question for Californian's is what to do with state agencies and financing them accordingly. Were the state divided along its hemispheres which serve arguably by Jeffersonian's as the financial border, where is revenue generated for its institutions? Those agencies having their choice would defer to remaining where their fianaical obligations are fulfilled, but is it as simple as changing a name? Does the California Highway Patrol become the Jefferson Highway Patrol, abandoning the well known CHP moniker, or what of the immense financial burden of California's prison system and their guards? Is this now the Jefferson Department of Correction and Rehabilitation? What becomes of the actual State of California and the agencies of the State that keep their residents safe?

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
