A new item has recently been added to the ballot of 4 counties. Due to Kansas City being precariously located in both Kansas and Missouri, a new movement has been gaining steam. The bill would change the borders of Kansas and Missouri within the Kansas City area, causing Kansas to gain Jackson, Clay, Cass, and Platte counties.

Kansas City currently sprawls across five counties. In addition to the four listed above, Kansas City, Kansas is found in wyandotte County. Despite a large portion being found in Missouri, the City has the misnomer of "Kansas City." The proposed change was originally the thought of Kansas Governor, Sam Brownback.
"Any other memorable tourist attraction is very obviously found within a well known state. However, many tourists wishing to get to know KC don't get the true experience. Locally, its a well known fact that Kansas City is a Twin City with itself, but that knowledge doesn't reach would be tourists past state lines." Brownback explained. He continued to explain the local benefits for both Kansas and Missouri should the state lines eventually be rewritten. "The biggest problem Kansas currently faces is a lack of income. Aside from exporting farmed goods, Kansas doesn't have much going for it, especially in the realm of tourism. Moving all of Kansas City into Kansas jurisdiction would be a huge benefit with the new tax revenue. Missouri currently spends most of its tourism budget on St. Louis, this change would revitalize Kansas City as a whole and would expedite is further development."
React365 tried reaching Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, and Kansas City Mayors Sly James (MO) and Mark Holland (KS), but was declined a statement.

There are multiple ways this could shake out. Any individual county voting to succeed from Missouri could be picked up by Kansas on its own, seeing as they are all on the Kansas border. However, the state line would be rather interesting if, for say, only Clay County voted to "move." However, it is likely that this will end up being all or nothing. A lot of logistics will have to take place to assimilate the change. Likewise, there would be a large change in the government of both states, and even the House of Representatives due to population changes of the states.

The bill is a long way away from being finalized and placed on a ballot. Before a vote can be cast, the new tax rates, regulations, and all the other complicated government talk needs to be in place ready for a change. Furthermore, its important that it be easily communicable so the masses can be informed before making their voice heard. Expect to see the ballot in 2019 or 2020. Even if it passes, the sheer logistical nightmare that follows could delay the changes for years. For now, Kansas City remains its own twin.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
