A man almost spent the rest of his life behind bars after a jury today convicted him of sexual assault of a minor almost 15 years ago.

Graham Nuttell, 48, spent almost 15 years in hiding after he repeatedly abused a young boy whos name we cannot release due to legal reasons in October 2002.

The High Court in Lincoln heard how Nuttell was working as a Tractor driver in one of the local farms when he attacked a 12-year-old visiting the site on a work experience day trip. Nuttle, who has previous convictions then tried to flee Britain to spend time in Greece before returning home to the UK, He later returned to Britain in the late 2015 and settled in Boston.

Nuttell wasn’t arrested until later this year. A police officer at Birmingham Airport discovered that colleagues at the london MET Office had issued a warrant for Nuttell's arrest in the days following the molestation. Nuttell was then detained after being reported back in the country and taken to lincoln crown court to stand trial. He claimed he acted on impulse because his victim had lost his way around and looked to innocent and lonley.

However, police and prosecutors were unable to find any evidence to find the crime had been motivated by sexual desire and it was a simple case of sexual frustration and over masterbation. They believed that Nuttell attacked the young boy to steal his virginity from him.

Jurors also refused to believe Nuttell’s story and convicted him of sexual assault of a minor inder the age of 16 this afternoon.Following the conviction, Lord Beckett asked prosecution lawyer Jane Farquharson why it has taken 15 years to bring Nuttell to justice.

Ms Farquharson said she was unable to provide answers at this point in time. But she said prosecutors would find out ahead of Nuttell being sentenced later next month.Lord Beckett deferred sentence on Nuttell in order for the court to obtain reports about his character.

Detective Superintendent Jim Smith of lincolnshire's CPS Major Investigation Team, whose team led enquiries following Nuttell’s apprehension last year, said: “I welcome the conviction today of Grahan Buttell for the list of sexual assaults made against him almost one and a half decades ago in Boston, Lincolnshire.

“Thanks to diligent policing and the skilful use of forensic and investigative techniques available to officers in the early 2000's, we were able to present a case 15 years on that stood the test of time.

“The childs family have spent these years wondering if anyone would ever be held accountable for the young boys assault, and I hope that today’s outcome can give them some comfort knowing his sexual predator will now be looking forward to spending time behind bars.

“The passage of time is never a barrier to ensuring that those who commit crime are brought to justice. Nuttell may have spent the last 15 years with what he did on his conscience however he now must face the stark reality and consequences of his actions.”

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
