POLICE: MAN CRITICAL CONDITION IN CRASH ON I-95 IN DELAWARE IDENTIFIED

WILMINGTON, Del. - Delaware state police have identified a Connecticut man who was critically injured with life threatening injuries in a crash on Interstate 95 on Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 5:34 a.m. in the southbound lanes where I-95 South merges with I-495 South just north of I-295.
According to investigators, the driver of a Nissan Altima, identified as 26-year-old Yovani Rivas, lost control of his vehicle.
The Nissan hit a concrete barrier before spinning around. The Nissan was then struck by a Toyota, also travelling southbound. Police say Rivas was not properly restrained and under the influence of alcohol He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and life threatening injuries.
The Toyota caught fire after the crash. However, the driver of that vehicle was able to escape with non-life threatening injuries. Police said it is not known if Rivas was impaired at the time of the crash. Speed is not considered to be a factor, police say. The incident remains under investigation

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation.
