For one local man, its been a crazy couple days.
A man only know as R.L., shot the buck of a lifetime. This massive buck is said to be legendary already, with an astounding 300+" of bone and around 30 points.
When questioned about where he shot it, he simply stated "Carroll County". As you can imagine, the story of this buck has become an overnight sensation, almost breaking Facebook, who has had to call in reserves to handle the extra traffic to thier site. Local hunters are having wet dreams of shooting this buck themselves.
That's where this story takes a turn. Local sleuths have uncovered that R.L. didn't actually shoot this buck in Carroll County. Rather, he paid to hunt it in a facility that raises large bucks. Not quite the story folks had been lead to believe.
It seems R.L. suffers from dementia, and simply forgot he shot it in a paid, fenced in hunt.
Rumors state that after shooting the buck, R.L. was driving home, then pulled over to take pictures with it in a pine tree field. When folks asked where he'd shot such a fine animal, he was embarrassed he couldn't remember, and replied "Carroll County".
Then today, as one does with a $10,000 trophy, he left it in the back of his pickup. While eating his breakfast of mush and bacon at the local diner, and trying to remember if he put his hair piece on, he came out to find the head of his buck missing. He believes someone stole it. In reality he probably placed it in his freezer, and forgot about it.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
