Just a little over 4 months since the last race was held, Matsui Asuka, founder of the international bird races, has announced that the next event will be held at a hotel in the city of Hakodate, Japan.

Bird racing, a mostly unheard of sport created for small pet birds, involves the training of one's feathered friend to steer a car through a racecourse that starts out as a narrow maze, and gradually becomes a more open raceway that allows the automated, bird-sized cars to speed through. Many people call hoax whenever they see a picture taken at any of the events, but with more research they are astonished to learn that it is indeed a real sport for pet birds. This next one will be the 8th annual race, with the first held in 2006.

The champion tag-team of 2013, Cappy and Link, will be returning this year, and competing to keep their title of champions for the 2nd year, surprising fans as they marvelously pulled ahead last second and took the title from former champion duo of the tag-team sect, Derby and Flier.

While no official date has been decided on yet, Matsui has confirmed it will be held sometime in Spring of 2014. The team is hoping to book Chikuba Shinyotei Hotel for the event to be held in. Tickets will be on sale January through February, be sure to grab them before they're all sold out!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
