Yes, there is an S on the end of that word. JR Nascar has held a major press conference this morning and the announcements are BIG! First and foremost say goodbye to the name Junior Nascar. The organization has changed the name of their young star sport, no longer will it be called Junior Nascar, starting at Daytona the organization will now be known as the Nascar Minor leagues. Still just as popular, still just as intense! Nascar felt that the title Jr Nascar doesn't fit the product that's being seen on a weekly basis and gives the impression it's all just a bunch of kids racing around a track. Those these drivers are young they aren't your average teenagers and young adults, their racing champions! As stated the name "Nascar Minor leagues" will start being used at Daytona weekend on May 18th. To give you a taste of how it may sound heres an example; The Nascar Minor League Xfinity series.
In addition to the title change there were some other big announcements made.
After what happened between the 18 and 4 drivers in the last 2 races Nascar has revised its "Rebound Rule" but not in the way you think. The rule was that if a driver was spun or dumped in anyway the driver who was victim of the incident would be allowed one rebound shot at the driver who caused the incident and any initial contact after that would be addressed depending if the severity. The rule is still the same but a bit revised. At Michigan the 18 wrecked the 41 who came back down into the 4 and 14. All teams were angry and the 4 got the harsher penalty. The next week the 18 lifted the 4 off the ground and then the r took the 18 out of the race, both drivers penalized. The new rebound rule adds a little more depth. Rebound 2.0 states that "If a driver intentionally wrecks a teammate, intentionally wrecks a car to affect another drivers race, or intentionally affects another drivers race I.e spins them or puts them into the wall that is grounds for a rebound. However if a driver is taken out by another driver in the incident, the driver taken out can "Rebound" at the following race at anytime. Gonna get crazy but of course there are limits that nascar will address when needed.
Another big announcement is that any driver that is suspended during a season, if applicable will lose their playoff spot. They can regain their playoff spot but only with another win. If the driver isn't locked into the chase when suspended they will have to win a secondary race to be considered locked in. This is an attempt to keep drivers from making severe mistakes on and off track.
The 4th announcement made this morning is a competition announcement.
In addition to making the competition more exciting and adding to the tile change The Nascar Minor League has stated that any driver who wins 2 or more of the big 4 races will be locked into the chase and cannot lose that spot. The only other race that has that prize is the Miami halfway race.
The final announcement made today was that Race teams can now own 5 car teams as long as their are 3 car owners within the organization. This effort is to help smaller teams merge with larger ones and increase competition. For example JGR can now merge with FRR and become a 5 car team, or to give a smaller team example JGR can merge with a smaller team in Xfinity like the 28. Teams can also field their own additional cars aswell.
NML chairman Mike Helton also hinted at the possibility of a 4th series joining the sport, this could be due to the recent merge of arca and Nascar. All capping of with the casual mention that Mustang of course will be coming next season as well.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
