There are many secrets of nature in the universe that humanity cannot penetrate. These enigmas have interested people since science began. With the course of time, a number of secrets has been discovered, but some of them, like electricity or telepathy, remain unexplained until now. Modern tools and knowledge, however, help scholars to pull back the shroud of mystery, but do not allow us to solve some especially unfathomable secrets. One of them lies not only in the question about the timeline of events that triggered the development of two mundane objects, but in the moral contemplation regarding humans’ rights to interpret and change the laws of nature. The egg and the chicken are so similar and heterogeneal simultaneously that nobody can be sure which one caused the creation of the other. Both are organisms, have the same genetic code and share a sense of purpose. On the other hand, they have different forms of being, origins and destinies.
Although an egg, in contrast to a hen, is not an animal, which can move, biologically it is an organism. In the same manner as with a human baby, it is hard to say when a chick is viable on its own. Approximately, on the 3rd day of incubation an egg starts to develop, and after the 11th day, the embryo is to be supplied with oxygen and nourishment from the content of the egg. According of the official definition, an organism may be defined as an assembly of molecules functioning as a more or less stable whole that exhibits the properties of life. Consequently, an egg can be considered an organism between the 3rd and 11th day after being laid. A hen is definitely an organism because it can show properties of life even a few minutes after being beheaded.
As a decollated chicken head stores the same genetic code as a chicken body, a chicken egg includes the DNA required to grow a common chicken, complete with its head. This mechanism works as a computer programming code, storing every subtle characteristic of the chicken’s body systems and also that of its egg, which the future chicken will lay. As an illustration, can be omitted a group of international scientists in a laboratory of Murdoch University in Australia has recovered DNA from fossil eggshells in order to reconstruct some extinct bird species. Another scientist group from Chile in the 2009 has grown a chicken with dinosaur legs due to a modification of the hen’s genetic code. These examples show that not only is the DNA of a chicken and an egg identical, but also that modern science can modify established biological routines.
Identical DNA and the ability to clone once-extinct or existing species follow to the question of the sense of purpose of an egg and a chicken. Biologically, the sense of a chicken’s existence is to breed one’s kind through egg laying. The sense of purpose of an egg is to become a chicken to breed other chickens. So goes the habitual circle of life. However, looking from the point of view of a human, an egg, as well as a chicken, are either a meal or a tool to reproduce even more meals. Only humans with their conceit could contrive such bizarre dishes as egg-stuffed chicken or chicken-stuffed eggs. Therefore, although nature has determined different purposes for eggs’ and chickens’ existence, we humans have redefined it our own manner with a similar sense of purpose.
In spite of the many similarities described above, both considered objects have a lot of differences as well. Although both creatures are organisms, humans classify them in very different ways. According to the established moral status classification, an egg is an insentient organism, while a chicken is a sentient one. Scientists describe the subjective experience of an organism which is capable of suffering or joy. Here arises again the problem of self-consciousness of a baby chicken. In the moment when the content of an egg starts to feel pain and perceive pleasure, the insentient egg becomes a sentient baby chicken. However, until people develop a newt classification or a better method of observation, the exact point of transformation will remain undefined. Though issues of moral classification have not been brought to close, some experts try to prove the ability of creation chickens’ and eggs’ lives independent of each other.
The life dependency of chickens and eggs should be determined by their origins. Every child knows that an egg derives from a chicken and a chicken derives from the egg. What they do not know is that scientists have already developed the methodology of a novel shell-less culture system for chick embryos. Two researchers from Japan have propose their method for the efficient generation of transgenic chickens, embryo manipulations, tissue engineering, and basic studies in regenerative medicine. If scientists have tried to develop a chicken without an egg, they can definitely try to develop an egg without a chicken. Although it has not yet been accomplished, a chicken and an egg have different origins despite the fact that they belong to each other.
Originating differently, these two objects proceed in their existence along different paths of life. One of them, which is an egg, is supposed to stay in good shape for just a short time; after that, it will be broken in either a natural or an artificial way. Some eggs, however, can stay alive for more than 25 days either incubating or being stored unfertilized in refrigerators for later ingestion. Certain lucky eggs have a chance to become long-lived and to be buried for more than 3 months in preparation of famous Chinese dish called a Century egg. Chickens, in their turn, can often outlive eggs by much longer. However, chickens rarely die a natural death; most of the time, they are killed intentionally by other creatures such foxes or humans. Their lives depend on purpose: as meat poultry, they live up to one year, and, as a laying hen, up to 5 years.
Considering that an egg and a chicken are similar because both are organisms, have the same genetic code and share the sense of purpose, or distinguishing them as different due to their types of being, origins and destiny does not offer people the answer to the question of the relative importance of eggs and chickens. However, the question “Which came first?” takes another meaning like “Who came first, a human, a chicken or an egg?” Why does a human have the right to determine the life path of eggs, chickens or other natural resources? Who has entitled humans to correct the existing state of things? Is he or she God? Does God exist? These questions are as old as humanity and maybe even older. Finally, perhaps it is not that bad that there are no definitive answers to these eternal questions.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
