A hidden treasure that has been buried for almost 300 years was found by a local Metal Detectorist out of Kiln Ms.
His story was recorded and now being published after the Gold and Silver bouillons were authenticated and will be displayed at the Historic Museum in New Orleans.
Gabe Whitfield was just your average relic hunter searching for things mine and your Grandparents and Great Grandparents may have dropped or like most did back in the day, buried what little they had in the back yards. He was digging not far from the shore in Bay St. Louis Ms. when he says his detector made a tone that most guys in his group wouldn’t dig because it sounds like a huge piece or iron in other words “Junk” when he decided why not dig this one because he wants getting any other sounds that day. As he started digging he hit something that he thought was a root from an old tree. After moving a little dirt because his pen pointer was telling him to go under the root like object, that’s when he realized it was a wooden board of some sort. He started digging around the wooden object and thought this board is awfully old. Not like any he’s seen before. He decided to chop through the board and the moment his shovel went through the board he seen the gold shining just as bright as the day it was put there. As he stopped and stared at what he couldn’t believe what he just found. His heart started skipping beats, as if he was having a heart attack. He grabs his phone to make a call he thought that he better not say anything. Did I just hit it rich? Am I seeing things? Did my research of looking for Jean Lafittes treasure finally pay off? As he decided to only take a coins from the cache to have an archeologist analyze and verify what he found. After being so anxious to keep it to his self, he called his friend and explained what had happened, his friend just laughed and said, isn’t that the story we dream of telling everyone? With laughs still coming from his friend Gabe starts to cut off his friends laugh and says, I’m Serious! Please come with me! His friend starts to say enough of the jokes how was your day? After he explained he wasn’t joking the friend decided he would go with him thinking Gabe was just taking him to a new digging spot, he grabbed his detector accessory bag and shovel and off they went! Once they pulled up and his friend seen the ground had been disturbed his heart started to flutter a little. Gabe says, wave your coil over the hole, you hear that? His friend says, yes it’s junk iron. Gabe starts digging. After he exposed the Cache “Aka Hoard of coins” his friend fell to his knees saying, you weren’t lying! Oh Man!!!!! You found a Treasure Chest!!!! As Gabe said, I Told You!!!! They started digging around the wooden box and after 30-45 mins the box was exposed! 3ft by 4ft and 2ft tall! Full of Gold and Silver Boullion!! They hit the mother load! The box valued at $8.7 million US Dollars, it’s the largest cache trunk ever discovered in South United States!
So if you think that old Metal detector you have in the closet is worthless get it out and dust it off and go Digging! As Gabe Whitfield says, You never know what you’ll find!

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
