JACOB Parsons will take a significant step along the comeback trail when he resumes riding Trials at Royal Randwick on Tuesday.

The former 2 time winning Premiership Apprentice is nearing the end of an 12 month disqualification for betting $1000 on Astern, which he rode to win on debut at Randwick in 2015, and For testing positive to illegal substances (cocaine).

His mistake stalled a highly successful career and cost him his lucrative stable riding position at Gai Waterhouse Racing but he has served his penalty and deserves a second chance.

The racing industry is usually forgiving of those trying to rebuild careers and Parsons is such a prodigious riding talent, he will quickly regain support from trainers and owners once he returns to race riding in late September.

We can not wait to see we’re this kid will go next he has already accievied what no other has done by the age of 16 he had already ridden more than 150 winners, including 41 in the city. Suddenly, there was an avalanche of cash heading into his bank account.

“You feel like it’s almost never going to end,” Parsons says of the money. “That there’s no stop to this flow of money coming in.

“You get your pay every two weeks – there’s always 10, 11, 12 grand there on a slow week.

“I was 16 and I was making 14 grand a fortnight, at least.

“I remember one fortnight I was having a good run and I made 24 grand.

“It’s a bit full on really – that’s a lot of money”.

But I think this is the best decision I can make is to come back to the Saddle and have another good crack and You never know we’re it could take me this time around.

When asked Parsons about his weight issue he responded “ Yeh well it is really tough having to start cutting back and watching what I eat but if I want to get my name back on top of that preimership hard enough I’ll do it”.

Also asked how much Parsons has lost so far and how much more he has to go “Well I was floating around 80-82kg comfortably around 3 months ago and was happy with just riding trackwork but I have had a past few Hard month which brought me to the decision to make a comeback, if it works it works if not we move on don’t we, but I’m currently sitting at 68kg so I have shredded a lot very quick, but there is still another 14kg to loose before I’m sitting we’re I want to be and if I can’t get back down to that weight I’m not going to ruin myself getting there.

We look further to seeing this young premiership winning jockey back in the saddle in late September, and kicking home plenty more winners.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
