Houston, Tx – It was warm July afternoon for Estelle Parker, 81, when she stopped into an iconic restaurant in Tomball Texas known for its charm. Her small stature, tiny frame, and disarming laugh made the whole idea of getting out for a special day, even more special. “My grandchildren wanted to take me out for my 81st birthday. I was dressed and ready at 6AM…. even though I knew they wouldn’t be picking me up until 11AM” Estelle laughs under her broad thick glasses.

They went to a Tea Room in old Tomball, Texas. The place was packed. Estelle and her grandchildren were seated, and even ordered. That’s when it happened. The owner rushed over and took the drinks off the table and asked them to pay and leave. What would cause this action? Estelle was wearing a “Make America Great Again” shirt, showing her support for the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

“Come back when you don’t have that on. We won’t be supporting that here,” multiple witnesses claim the owner said loudly and harshly, as if to shame Estelle. Estelle’s children sat shocked for a moment. 81-year-old Estelle broke down in tears, her birthday ruined. She proudly stood up, and left with her head high, proud to support Trump, as tears went down her face.

That morning, when she was ready at 6AM for a great birthday with family, she had no idea supporting the ideals of Freedom and Liberty would be met with such opposition. History repeats itself, because what Estelle didn’t know that day when her grandchildren picked her up was that this would be the 2nd time in her life she would be kicked out of a restaurant for her political views.

On the morning of March 30th, 1960, when black students staged Sit-Ins to protest discrimination at businesses across the south, Estelle was at the F.W. Woolworth Store on East Houston street in Marshall TX. to witness it, and ultimately participate.

“I never considered myself someone who would do that,” says Estelle when her grandchildren call her a hero. As a white woman in the 1960’s, and being only 23 at the time, Estelle admits she was following Christ when she acted. “These young black men were sitting peacefully,” continues Estelle, “and all these white people I knew all my life from Church were cussing and saying awful things. This isn’t what Christ is about. So, I stepped in.”

Five foot four Estelle stood between men twice her size and the young black men at the counter in an act to keep any harm from happening. “I couldn’t allow violence.” The evening of March 30th saw over 57 protesters arrested. Estelle was arrested the next day after being identified later.

58 years later, in Tomball TX, Estelle says that she knew leaving peacefully and proudly was the important thing about being denied service. “Never be ashamed of who you are,” Estelle said strongly. “And I welcome the owner of that tea room to come to my church and sit with me.”

Since the incident Estelle has reached out to the owner several times asking to talk about their differences but has received no response.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
