Shukan Bunshun releases an issue which will soon eventually fills in the local magazines. AKB48 member Kitahara Rie was spotted in Sapporo early in the morning exiting someone's house. Shukan comments that the currently 'Terrace House' cast member was not escorted outside the house alone. A girl, seemingly mid 20's escorted the idol out before giving her a hug and a kiss to the cheek.

Kitahara was one of the original members of AKB48 when it was launched by producer Yasushi Akimoto in 2005. The band is made up of some 90 girls - whose ages range from mid teens to early 20s - who, in teams, appear daily in their own theatre and regularly on television, in adverts, and in magazines.

They portray an image of cuteness known as "kawaii", and have become a huge phenomenon both in Japan and increasingly in other Asian countries, correspondents say.

The condition for being part of such a successful act is that the girls must not date, so as not to shatter their fans' illusions.

Akimoto P then comments on the issue almost immediately

"it's normal- It's normal for them to fall in love, but we do not encourage romantic relations with other people whilst entering the idol life. We have not spoken about this to Rie or her other members. We will look into it more and release the statement when we're sure"

Day's after the release of the issue in the local magazines, fans of Kitahara Rie discover the idol's private instagram and releases photos of her and a mystery girl who seemed 'to close to be just friends' one fan said, the picture was then sent again to Shukan Bunshun

It is quite clear with the photos that the two have an intimate relationship. Kitahara Rie was seated on the girls lap with an arm around her shoulder while the mystery girl has her arms wrapped around Rie's waist and the two faces the camera holding a peace sign. According Shukan Bunshun, the photo was taken from fall of 2014 to early 2015.

“the place the picture was taken was in a luxury hotel inn in Hakone, which a lot celebrities also visit. The two are still friendly and talk over LINE.”, according to an acquaintance of Kitahara.

According to the AKB48 official blog, Kitahara Rie will not be participating in the upcoming Miyagi handshake event (June 14), claiming that her name was there due to “misprint”.
