BIRMINGHAM, AL (Birmingham Times-Herald)

WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer Ron Simmons was placed into the Birmingham City Jail on the morning of October 11th, authorities say.

Simmons, a 60-year-old Georgia native and veteran professional wrestler, was arrested and brought up on charges while passing through Birmingham. It’s not clear why Simmons was in the area.

“Birmingham is a big place, but it’s pretty unusual for someone this high-profile to be placed into criminal detention”, Jefferson County Deputy Owen Scofield told the Times-Herald. “I can’t comment on the details of Mr. Simmons’ arrest at this time, though the Sheriff and county attorneys may release more information at a later date”, Scofield said.

The Times-Herald reached out to Simmons’ legal counsel but has received no reply at press time.

UPDATE: React365 and the Birmingham Times-Herald has made contact with Simmons’ counsel, Herschel Adler. Adler has informed the Birmingham Times-Herald that Simmons is being held with a charge of “being too fly for a white guy”, which Adler says Simmons “vehemently denies”. Adler went on to say he is working very closely with Simmons and the Jefferson county authorities and hopes to resolve the disputes quickly. Adler had nothing more to add.

Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
