O'Donoghue (30) and partner in crime Paul Whelan (26) appeared in court on Wednesday to begin proceedings in relation to the arrest of the due in which a loaded 9mm semi automatic pistol was recovered along with 10 rounds of ammunition in the car driven by O'Donoghue in which Whelan was a passenger.
Several sqaud cars were damaged when the driver took evasive action and tried to flee the scene near Corbally of last July 30th.
Both men have now been charged with possession of the same weapon on the same date with intent to endanger life under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.
Both men also face a third charge of suspicious possession of eight rounds of ammunition.
During a procedural court hearing, gardai sought to amend the original charge to include reference to an ammunition magazine which was also seized by gardai.
It has not been established whether the duo will have to face the more serious charge of conspiracy to murder and attempt to kill / endanger life after a led operation spun over the space of a year where lead detectives had O'Donoghue under surveillance due to a number of serious charges brought against the notourious gang leader from 2017.
O'Donoghue was brought before the court two days prior in relation to some of these allegations including threats to kill and endanger a life, dangerous driver with intent to use an automobile as a deadly weapon, dangerous driving with intent to endanger lives, driving while banned, driving with no road tax or insurance, GBH, ABH, inciting organised crime and possession of a large amount of Heroin cocaine and crack cocaine with intent to supply just to name a few on evil O'Donoghue' s long list of crime which has been uncovered throughout the investigation over the space of a year.
One of the more serious matters brought infront of the judge this week include an incident from October last where O'Donoghue is accused of trying to "mow down" a female cousin of his who is a relation to another well known family to the Gardai whom O'Donoghue is known to be feuding with.
The incident that took place in moyross is said to have occurred around 10.30pm where the twisted thug was bringing his girlfriend and another family member to the off licence.
O'Donoghue became increasingly distressed when the premises refused him entry due to it being closing time when he came across the unnamed female.
New witness statements brought before he courts this week said what unfolded was described as a "vicious uncalled for attack in which a number of the public were in fear for their life".
O'Donoghue demanded the young girl to leave moyross immediately after it had come to his attentian that her older male relations had made a number of threats to him over the phone about his recent trips to his partners home in Thurles Co.Tipperary and his activities in the surrounding area.
He proceeded to drive his car toward her in a threatening manner before mounting the kerb at such speed it caused a number of the young crowd that were loitering around the off licence to "dive" out the way of the oncoming vehicle endangering both the members of the young crowd and his two female passengers.
The scene was described as "chaotic" and "absolute mayhem". O'Donoghue was said to have had a sudden change of heart where he briefly left the scene [as seen on CCTV] to drop off his passengers to safety to near by Kileely before he once again returned to the scene and began again to threaten the life of the young female causing her to run in fear for her life.
Several witnesses have refused to co-operate with the investigation and have refused to provide statements.
The trial was adjourned to review the evidence.
O'Donoghue who was the ring leader in the horrific arson attack in 2006 where a car in which Millie and Gavin McNamara were asleep on the backseat was petrol bombed and O'Donoghue turned the two tots into human fireballs after their mother refused the teenager a lift to court.
If convicted of one of the more serious charges O'Donoghue could face life in prison.
We will continue to report as the trial continues.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
