The Pepsi Co, Inc. (NASDAQ: PEP) announced today that the company will Acquire a cannabis beverage company, Rocky Mountain High Brands (OTC: RMHB). The acquisition will give PepsiCo a Strong, Hemp Energy Drink and CBD Energy Waters Platform.

After years of prohibition, industrial hemp is now federally legal in America. The Farm Bill, which goes into effect on January 1, 2019, is a monumental step for the hemp industry and it will finally allow businesses to sell hemp products anywhere in the U.S.

Rocky Mountain High Brands has grown to become a major hemp & CBD beverage brand.
With the new major development, that Rocky Mountain High Brands has been granted permission to be the sole provider of high-quality drinks containing cannabidiol (CBD) to be sold throughout Mexico by RCH Grupo’s subsidiary, CBD Life. It is the first time an American company has manufactured a hemp product in the form of beverages for sale in Mexico.

The chief executive officer of Pepsi Co. North America, Albert Carey said the acquisition was between Kona Gold Solution Inc, and Rocky Mountain High Brands, Inc.
The significance of RMHB being the only CBD drinks with permits to be imported into Mexico at this current time was the deciding factor.

The Acquisition will now give Pepsi a Strong, Hemp Platform in Mexico and US with a huge Potential for Future Global Growth.

Rocky Mountain High Brands, Inc. develops, manufactures, and sells hemp-infused food and beverage products. It offers naturally flavored hemp-infused beverages, such as citrus and mango energy drinks, black tea, and lemonade; and a low-calorie hemp-infused coconut lime energy drink. The company also provides hemp-infused mango and mixed berry energy shots; and Eagle Spirit Spring Water, which is a high alkaline spring water.

The acquisition of Rocky Mountain High Brands is valued at $11.2 million.
The PEP/RMHB share stock swap ratio, is that each RMHB shareholder will receives 0.9697 shares of PEP on January 1st, 2019 in exchange for 55 shares of RMHB stock. At the current stock prices RMHB stock will have an estimate value of $2.00 a share.

The Pepsi Co energy drink portfolio currently consists of Amp, Starbucks bottled drinks and Mountain Dew Kickstart. Rockstar is still flying solo, but is distributed by Pepsi.

According to Beverage Daily, refreshment beverages like value-added water, energy drinks, and bottled water have outperformed traditional beverages and alcohol over the last several years. Consumers are choosing low-calorie options while also looking to functional beverages like probiotics, CBD and kombucha to potentially boost health. 

Marijuana-infused beverages could become a $600 million market in the US in the next four years, according to a note from Canaccord Genuity, Canaccord estimates CBD beverages will become a $260 million market by 2022, and THC-infused beverages a $340 million market.
