These UK Young Artists are the next generation of creativity.

A new wave of young, British artists are tackling everything from technology to politics, gender to the urban landscape. With the rise of Instagram, you often won't even need to go to a gallery to see their work. Here are the ones to watch.

1. Dan price

Self taught digital artist Dan Price, who is known on Instagram as @deepeyart has begun study at Nottingham Trent University. One of his most favourited work is ‘Boy’s Can’t Wear Pink’, which is a series of digitally painted self portraits that send a message about toxic masculinity and sexism in today’s society. His charming use of colour and co-operation of three self-portraits opens up his viewer’s eyes to consider the context of the work, and what the use of colour symbolizes.

2. Herfa Thompson

Thompson’s work ‘London Filed Lido’ is the first in an ongoing series acrylic and watercolour paintings on canvas exploring wild swimming in Britain with memories of swimming in Martinique and Zambia. She graduated from Sculpture and Environmental Art from The Glasgow School of Art in 2017. You can explore more of her art work on her Instagram - @herfaaaaa

3. Heather Agyepong

Agyepong creates beautiful Polaroids and explores the story of Sarah Forbes Bonnetta - who was sold into slavery before being presented to Queen Victoria as a gift - looking at the legacy of trauma left upon black women and their mental health.  You can check out more of her self portraits on her website - heatheragyepong.com

4. Ife Gallo

Gallo is a young poet who grew up in East London during the UKYATakeover 2019. He uses his poetry to examine the beauty, complexity and bitterness of everyday life while being refreshingly relatable. As a poet, life is a Hammer and Tongue National Finalist, a Roundhouse Youth Slam Finalist and won the individual award at the 2018 UK University Slam Champions.

5. Adam Iraki

Iraki based in Birmingham for his dazzling artwork which has being selected to be presented in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for the Inspire 2018, which is a really big achievement for Iraki and all the other young artists who have been selected!
He has since gravitated to more stylish artwork that highlights his flamboyant personality. He shows Birmingham what he can really do with his skilful photoshop work.
You can go visit all of his artwork on Pinterest and follow his Instagram @nevvkay

6. Anna Bunting-Branch

Bunting-Branch is already making an impact. Her work explores feminist visions and revisions of the past, and how myths are created around women in history. At a recent event at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), she explored the way feminists have subverted the term ‘witch’, and currently has work on display at the Jerwood Space at Bankside. You can see more of her art on her website - annabuntingbranch.com

7. laurie Ramsell

Over the last 5 years ArtistoftheDay Laurie Ramsell has investigated what it means to be human in a world where such a label is increasingly becoming outdated. New environments and identities are opening up through digital spaces, genetic modification, and additive manufacturing processes that challenge our current understanding of being human. More of her art is featured on her Instagram @laurieramsell

8. Jasleen Kaur

Kaur, a Scottish Indian artist based in London, will be exhibiting 'Cairns' which are sculptures inspired by the joth (ghee candle) that her parents burnt at sundown for 30 days to ward off negative energies.

9. Georgia Lucas-Going

Lucas-Going is a video and performance artist, creating work with play and a sense of humour that is also honest and confronting for the viewer. Her work was exhibited at the New Contemporaries exhibition at the ICA in 2016. You can see more of her art on vimeo.com/georgialucasgoing

10. Joe Webb

Webb makes collages with vintage magazines - and the results are often a treat for the eyes and politically charged. He’s also created an album cover for singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe, and members of the band Coldplay say he influenced the aesthetic for one of their music videos. Despite the ruination her anger has caused, Anna says she has no regrets. "I actually wish I knew I had this ability sooner!" Anna laughs. whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
