It sometimes feel that we keep telling the same story over?
Are we truly that daft that we continuously become our own worst enemies never learning from our mistakes?
It's kind of like emperor Romulus watching the fall of Rome.
In 2019 Mount Pearl plays host 2 the senior men's national challenge cup and Jubilee championships. Normally this would be a great honor bestowed on any town on any province but in this case are we about to demonstrate our worst soccer showcase ever? As the months unfold leading up to the provincial men's challenge cup season everything is anything but kosher! Mount Pearl are on the verge of not even having any senior soccer and that's largely in part due to non watchful eye of the current technical director. It's been a series of bad decision making in the department of technical director that has led the once moghty Mount Pearl Senior soccer program to this eminent downfall.
The previous technical director proved to not be a lot different and using the position for his self serving ways and ultimately driving away the likes of others who were instrumental for many years. But with many eyes watching impatiently waiting in the Mount Pearl area I have witnessed a lot of talk and little to no action! He's been offered suggestions and guidance and it has fell on deaf ears as we are in the preparation stages for the 2019 season and is looking to be a Mount Pearl-less endeavor.
But this is just one select problem that is plaguing this upcoming season. It seems that senior soccer is headed in the direction of Newfoundland senior hockey did Once Upon a Time and still walk a line that at treads in the mindset of win at all costs.
There's no regard for the future in a couple instances here and what the Damage Done Now will mean for the future League because set on this path in 2 years senior men's and womens soccer will cease to exist or at best produce a substandard product if things don't change.
Let's talk about CBS Strikers for instance there seems to be a mass Exodus of players from Mount Pearl and St Lawrence hitting to the CbS Squad under the helm of former laurentian's head coach Derek Strang. Bringing former laurentians keeper John Douglas as well as Cory mullet and rumors of others and returning to the senior soccer mix once more is Kevin Oram also said to be headed to the CbS Strikers these are just a few to mention and others to come which also begs the question
What happens to the 28 guys who got cbs. To the playoffs last year With these new changes.?
Also theres Holy Cross, a soccer dynasty. Yes but the head Coach .wants to win no matter the cost, stacking the roster with as many players as he can muster but theres just one problem with that, you can only keep 20 players, promises of grandeur to 30 + players only gives the others false hope, keeping them "loyal" to the program but never seeing the field and in the end hurts the player and the league because it keeps them from.developing when they could be effective on other teams. But everyone seems stricken with fear with the mere mention of his name and personally I fail to see why.
On the other end of the spectrum Fieldians coach has told specific players that they will never see a min of play so.why not go play where you can play and be effective but they refuse and stay on the bench and then half way through the season piss and moan that they arent playing.like coach was lying to them. Thsts the problem with blind loyality if thsts what it is or is just not smart behavior and just not knowing whats best for themselves.
Either way NL Senior soccer is starting on a downward spiral that if continued will take years to rebound from. And all in the same year that Nationals will showcase us at home. The win at all cost mentality will be the ultimate undoing of Senior Soccer

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
