Curling crowd? Another National Curling event to hit St.johns 2019!

From the 2004 and 2008 Grand Slam championships three players championships and won Masters Tournament held here in Newfoundland more specifically St John's or better yet the Greater St John's area there is some meanderings about whether or not we are curling Province or gushue province. Yes we are largely gushue province and that is well deserved on the part of Brad gushue but I think it's unfair to say that we are just a gushue province. I think that things are slowly changing and that the number of teams in the Tankard last year with the opportunity for a second Newfoundland team to play in the Brier changed a lot of mines and I think you will see a whole other level of competition and interest not from just players but from the fan side of things from Team Smith and team Symmonds and God knows who else that will crawl into the woodwork and have been traveling to other tournaments outside the province to better prepare them selves for future successes and crawl onto the world stage. But a national or World Tournament is a national or World Tournament if you get what I'm saying it draws people from all over the country as well as the world in some cases and the grand slam of curling and the world curling tour or not specifically the only the only National-esq events to be held here in St John's.
In March 2019 Bally Haley Curling Club will play host to the 2019 National Police curling championships.
Now I know there are some people that will have a little chuckle at that because it will not be broadcast on Sportsnet or TSN or any other major Network but there are a couple other things we need to take into consideration here and that is that these are National class athletes who played all in provincial playdowns to be the best of that province to represent themselves at a national level. And with the proper marketing and right Attitude we also have to understand that this truly is a national class event not unlike the one recently held in CBS. And yes I know I know that people disagree with me but the fact of the matter is that yes one may be a little more difficult to compare to the other but there are 4 things you must consider 1 is that this is a national curling event 2 these are National class athletes + 3 it's being hosted in our city and in our province and 4 it's curling and whether we are a gushue Province or not we are still a curling Province too. we may be in the infancy stages of it but we are there. So I feel a little more media attention a little more social media attention and a little more word of mouth could really help catapult such an event as the 2019 National police curling championships two more appropriate level instead of being pushed to the back burner, give it some respect and attention that it sorely needs needs and most definitely deserves.

And yes another hurdle aside from mentality that we have to overcome here is the rink situation we have to Bally Haley and the Remax Center and problem is they do not remain open year-round. They close in lieu of the wedding hosting potential that both facilities contain. But we cannot shut down curling for x amount of months and not train and expect to compete with the rest of the country. Times have changed this is definitely something that needs to be addressed I myself had place an advert to see if there was enough interest to host a summer curling program in some capacity and I receive tons of positive feedback but positive feedback and interest is no good if you have no facility the host it at. As for other Arena venues why is Jack Byrne never attempted host such an event or even the place year both of these events have the capability to do so at least for some of the lower end events on the world curling tour.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
