As of this morning, April 1st, 2019 Callaway Golf will be shutting their doors for good. The report cites a court filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware that indicates the retailer listed estimated liabilities and assets of $100 million to $500 million. Based in Carlsbad, Ca., the company sells golf equipment, apparel and accessories, both in-store and online, and is owned by Sun Capital Partners, Inc.

Callaway Golf sells its products through golf retailers and sporting goods retailers, through mass merchants, directly online, and through its pre-owned and trade-in services. Callaway Golf licenses its name, trademarks and service marks for golf lifestyle products including golf apparel, golf shoes, golf bags, headwear, watches, rangefinders, practice aids and travel gear.

Callaway Golf also markets products under the Odyssey putter brand, acquired in 1997,[3] as well as Strata and Ben Hogan golf brands picked up following the bankruptcy of Spalding's former golf division in 2003.

"What we want for it is the best price we can get for it,” said an almost dismissive Callaway chief financial officer Robin Stalker more than a year ago. KPS got the club business for what in reality amounted to a little more than $200 million in cash, plus a loan and other considerations that might make the final price even less than the reported $425 million, all for a club company that leads the driver count nearly every week on tour and remains, despite some struggles, firmly entrenched as one of golf’s top three brands with Titleist and Taylormade.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
