“We just aren’t very good.”

Those were the words uttered by Van Armitage the week leading up to the final game of his first year playing organized football.

Winless, and feeling hopeless, Van was not sure how his teammates would react playing in the final game of a forgettable campaign. One thing was for certain ... Van was not going down without a fight.

Down 12-0 at halftime, staring another loss in the face, Van decided to do something that hasn’t been done since LeBron James brought his Cavaliers back to beat the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, after being down 3-1.

Van knew it was time to, “PUT THE TEAM ON HIS BACK DOEEEE.”

He had his biggest breakout game in his biggest moment. Van carried the rock and his teammates to glory with two key plays that put his team ahead, including a 75 yard touchdown scamper that changed the momentum of the entire game. The other was a TD up the right sideline where Van used his speed to burn by defenders to go untouched.

His stat line in the second half:

4 Carries, 112 Yard, 2 TD’s

All in all, Van closed out his team’s year with a much needed win and possibly taking some momentum into next season.

“That was a lot of fun. Winning definitely was different” said Van, after the win.

Van may just be on the verge of being different, himself. I know he certainly has gained this writer’s attention.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
