CNN - Fake News aggregator, steemit.com, has been shut down by authorities, late Thursday.

The nearly two-hour hearing before the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals came about two months after a federal judge in Virginia postponed closure of the site. District Court Judge Theodore Chuang concluded that the site likely incites hate, as well as other criminal content. The site owners informed CNN that they would appeal the decision.

The judges used the first half hour of the hearing to question the Steemit, Inc. CEO, Ned Scott.

Scott, who regularly reviewed and downloaded articles from the blockchain, provided CNN five thousand examples he said he saved. The STEEM blockchain continued to receive posts, even though the steemit.com site was shut down.

"There has been tremendous pushback from the users that understand blockchain technology," Scott said. "Essentially this is going to have very little effect on the content being posted. It only affects a single front-end."

Obviously, just because of a single front-end closure on a single blockchain doesn't mean the thousands of other blockchains are going to vanish on the spot. However, the ban and its implications could have a chilling effect on the future of new blockchain technology.

Several key cyberterrorism officials say that bans on this kind of blockchain technology will make the US more safe.

CNN and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
