The regeneration group St Modwen PLC took a 14 percent hike in share prices this week due to selling assets it purchased some four years previously. The group purchased land in a little town on the outskirts of Liverpool, with the intention of regenerating the run down area with amenities such as shops, bars, and a cinema.

But only last month one of the board of directors, on behalf of shareholders, entered discussions to sell the land to the government, who have plans to build a prison that will house up to 1000 in- mates. But in a strange twist of fate the government will then hand back excessive land that is not required to the local authority, whom are Knowsley, who were the original owners of said land who then sold it to St Modwen in a 350 million pound deal some 4 years previously.

This will generate major profits for St Modwen, who stand to near double their money from a project that has barely got off the ground. Although a regeneration company they will cash in their chips and walk away with a nice tidy sum that otherwise would have taken decades to amass

The government are going ahead with plans to build 6 new prisons by 2022 to ease the burden on already overcrowded HMPs. Kirby is said to be a prime location due to the closeness of another prison based in Liverpool (HMP Liverpool) The plan is to use the new prison to ship inmates from the dilapidated building to the new one and start renovating the old prison wing by wing.

This won’t go down well with the residents and leaves the town of kirkby on its knees, where broken promises are ten a penny, be it from its inept authority or St Modwen to big multi nationals Tesco that was the ill-fated joint partnership with Everton FC

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
