It is a sad day for Hillbillys lovers around the country as owner George Marron decides to close the fast food restaurant chain after 21 years in business.

Established in 1997, Hillbillys fast food restaurant opened on the Grand Parade in Cork City. Throughout the years they expanded to Clare, Letterkenny, Waterford and Dublin.
Hillbillys use a Unique Secret Recipe that was discovered in a humble farmhouse kitchen deep in the heart of the American South.

Hillbilly's owner George Marron said he made the decision last week to close:
“It was hard,” he said. “It was very hard. The likes of Supermacs, McDonalds and other fast food chains have taken the lead and financially it makes no sense to stay open".

Marron Thanked his loyal customers saying "We have had a great run at it for 21 years, I would like to thank all of our loyal customers along with my family, employees and friends. The end of an Era has come".
A source told us that he has offered a good redundancy package to his workers and they left on very good terms.

However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
