Spring break is a happy time for young Americans. Paradise becomes a reality and the madness of most families ends when the hot air hits the face as you walk off the airplane. You are officially on vacation and the party has begun. The college students carry the party from the plane to the beaches and pools of Cancun. The hard working couples and parents check into their resort and let the kids run free as they prepare to enjoy a few days of relaxation. Well, at least that was the plan for Roger Greenfold, his wife Angela and her younger sister Amy Neilson of Augusta, Ga. On April 4th 2019, their dream vacation became a nightmare. Roger, Angela and Amy were gunned down outside of Harry's Steakhouse of Cancun. Roger and Amy were pronounced dead at the scene and Angela remains in critical condition at Quintaroo Hospital. The couple and Amy were set to come home on April 5th ending their 5 night stay at Secrets The Vine Adults Only Resort which is a just across from Harry's Steakhouse. According to witnesses, two men approached Amy for an unknown reason and she quickly became combative. Roger intervened and was shot twice and killed. The gunman then approached the two women and fired 3 more shots at Amy killing her. He then pointed the gun at Angela and fired a single shot to her chest. This is the first known public slaying of a US citizen since 2009. No additional information was given on the suspects as they took off on foot. US embassy officials have declared Cancun as a Class 5 on their travel advisory for the first time since 2009. If you have arranged to stay in Cancun this summer, the US embassy urges you to reconsider or travel at your own risk. If you cannot cancel or change destinations, you can call 800-288-5952 for any questions or concerns.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
