From the Battle of the Blackwater to the Battle of Castle Black to the Battle of the Bastards, Game of Thrones has a long history of producing legendary battle sequences. But the show’s creators say that the final showdown, the Battle of Winterfell between the living and the dead taking place in Game of Thrones

At the end of Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2, women, children and non-fighters like Varys and Tyrion were ready to hole up in the Winterfell crypts to steer clear of the bloodshed. But given the White Walkers’ ability to raise the dead, it seems like underground tunnels filled with the bodies of late Starks may turn out to be the least safe place imaginable.

Outside the castle walls, warriors like Brienne, Jorah and Grey Worm are preparing to lead different factions of the Winterfell army into battle. Meanwhile, Bran is going to be hanging out in the godswood with Theon and the ironborn in hopes of luring the Night King into the open so Jon and Dany can rain dragonfire down on him. However, since the Night King wasn’t shown among the White Walker ranks advancing on Winterfell in the closing moments of Sunday’s episode, some fans are speculating that he won’t even be present at the battle.

Fighting for your life can seem like a constant on a show filled with death and destruction. But this upcoming conflict isn’t just any fight: this is the final battle for survival. In season 7, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) proved to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) that instead of everyone fighting each other for the Iron Throne, the armies of Westeros needed to band together and fend off the fast-approaching White Walkers. Essentially, it’s everybody (well, most of the good guys) vs. the Night King and the Army of the Dead — all in one massive action sequence. After nearly 70 episodes of buildup, winter is most definitely here.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
