When California officially became a State on September 9th of 1850, there was a heated debate over the circumstances by which Statehood was actually granted.
Many of the Founders of this State were well aware of this Territories previous "owners" & governors.
California was ceded to the United States under the terms of the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following the defeat of Mexico in the Mexican–American War. American westward expansion intensified with the California Gold Rush, beginning in 1848.
Although there was clearly an indigenous people that occupied the area prior to Mexican presence, essentially they don't matter anymore. Only the people's that we shoved out should be of concern. As point of reference, The most commonly accepted model of migration to the New World is that peoples from Asia crossed the Bering land bridge to the Americas some 16,500 years ago. The remains of Arlington Springs Man on Santa Rosa Island are among the traces of a very early habitation, dated to the Wisconsin glaciation (the most recent ice age) about 13,000 years ago. In all, some 30 tribes or culture groups lived in what is now California, gathered into perhaps six different language family groups. These groups included the early-arriving Hokan family (winding up in the mountainous far north and Colorado River basin in the south) and the recently arrived Uto-Aztecan of the desert southeast. This cultural diversity was among the densest in North America, and was likely the result of a series of migrations and invasions during the last 10,000–15,000 years.[1] At the time of the first European contact, Native American tribes included the Chumash, Nisenan, Maidu, Miwok, Modoc, Mohave, Ohlone, Pomo, Serrano, Shasta, Tataviam, Tongva, Wintu, Yurok and Yokut.
Forget about the Spanish and their conquests, not much really happened there other than a little subjugation here and a little torture and killing there.
Anyway, fast forward to May of 2019. It's high time, the current occupiers of this region, pay and pay good.
The Bill basically requires any and all food vendors, restaurants, grocery stores serving Mexican food to collect a 16.25 "Repatriations Tax" on all foods dispensed. Even home cooked meals are to be reported to the California Franchise State Tax Board and taxed accordingly.
California Law Makers are Drafting similar Legislation for African American food (slavery), Chinese Food (Rail workers) and a separate Bill for all others than White (Privilege Balancing).
Non-Citizens are exempt of course.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

two great white sharks found swimming in mississippi river near saint louis, missouri. While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
