Internationale media-aandacht voor Brunssumse bierbron

Wat begon als een onschuldig idee voor het organiseren van een kroegentocht, heeft geleid tot een grootschalig onderzoek in het Limburgse Brunssum. Drie lokale jongeren grapten dat de fonteinpartij aan het Lindeplein te Brunssum de bron was van het Brunssumse edelpils. Na afronding van het - drie jaar durende - onderzoek stelt de LFB (Limburgse Federatie voor Bodemonderzoek) vast dat dit gebaseerd bleek te zijn op feiten.

Gemeente Brunssum zag een kans om de bron in verbinding te leggen met lokale cafés in de Kerkstraat middels een bierpijpleiding om de lokale economie en leefbaarheid een boost te geven. Ingenieur P. ter Selie tekende voor de aannemingswerken voor het technische huzarenstuk waarvan de aanleg per direct is begonnen.

Het project draagt de naam “Het gouden pijpje”, omdat er dagelijks duizenden liters pils (gewonnen uit de bron) door de beoogde bierpijpleiding zullen gaan stromen. Naast L1 en LOO-tv werd er ook belangstelling getoond door internationale mediabedrijven zoals CNN, The Guardian en The Wall Street Journal. Er wordt gesproken over een wereldprimeur voor Limburg. Brunssum kan, na het afblazen van het pretpark, alsnog een toeristische trekpleister worden voor bezoekers uit vele windstreken, aldus wethouder E.D.E.L. Pils.

De officiële inhuldiging van de natuurlijke bron in combinatie met de bierpijpleiding van het Brunssumse edelpils is voorzien op 12 juli 2019. Heel wat prominenten en lokale politici hebben hun aanwezigheid bevestigd voor de inhuldiging. Wethouder H. Vermout en afgevaardigde B. Verwijk zullen aanwezig zijn om een toespraak te houden en het glas te heffen op deze bijzondere dag. Er worden meer dan 1.500 genodigden uit binnen- en buitenland verwacht voor het evenement waar lokale gastronomie, straatanimatie en muziek samen zullen komen.

Bovenstaand artikel is logischerwijs nog nepper dan de glimlach van Gerard Joling en de kont van Kim Kardashian. Geen zorgen, natuurlijk zal de pijpleiding niet aangelegd worden. We hopen natuurlijk wel op een grote opkomst bij het georganiseerde evenement “Pilstocht het Gouden Pijpje”.

The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
