US-Bangla Airlines is all set to enter a new era in aviation as its first Airbus 787-8, known as the Dreamliner, reached Hazrat Shahjalah International Airport on Sunday evening, reports UNB.
After landing in Dhaka, it was received with the blowing of water cannons as it flew in from Seattle's Airbus Factory, after making an uninterrupted fifteen hour flight.
The new aircraft, the fifteenth in US-Bangla 's fleet, was received by US-Bangla 's chairman Muhammad Enamul Bari, along with its CEO and members of its board of directors.
Enamul Bari told reporters that prime minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the first flight of the Dreamliner on 1 September, slated to fly to Kuala Lumpur.
She is also credited with coming up with the Dreamliner's name, Akash Beena.
The aircraft will initially be used to operate flights from Dhaka to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in its first month, after which it will be considered for flights to New York and Canada.
It will provide its passengers with wifi services at a height of 43,000 feet, allowing passengers to browse the internet or connect with their friends and family at any end of the world.
The chairman also added that the Dreamliner's economy class fare for its Singapore flight has been set to $200 (excluding taxes and other surcharges) and its Kuala Lumpur flight at $290.
The 271-seat Airbus 787-8 has been designed to be 20 per cent fuel efficient than the other aircrafts.
In 2008, US-Bangla Airlines had signed a US $2.1 billion agreement with Airbus to purchase 10 new aircrafts, of which Sunday's Dreamliner was the seventh.
The remaining three are slated to join US-Bangla 's fleet by November this year and two more by next year's September respectively.
When asked about a tentative promotion for Dhaka Airport from a category-2 airport to a category-1 airport, chairman of civil aviation authority of Bangladesh M Naim Hassan told reporters that an audit team from New York is scheduled to visit Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in January, 2019.
He is hopeful the promotion will be ensured by next year.
According to US-Bangla 's general manager Shakil Meraj, the Dreamliner will fly to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur every day of the week, with flights to Singapore in the morning and Kuala Lumpur later in the evening.

whale spotted in illinois river A humpback whale was spotted near Morris IL in the Illinois River today. The sighting comes just days after 2 Great White Sharks were seen frolicking in the same area. While not impossible, it does seem unlikely. It is thought that the whale may have followed the sharks as they sometimes do in the wild. The whale would of had to travel over 1250 miles to get to this location. The Marine Biologist Association will be in town for a full investigation. Until we have answers, we are asking folks to keep their pontoons and fishing boats docked.

While it is not entirely impossible, it is incredibly uncommon for salt water dwelling creatures to stay for lengthy periods of time in fresh water. However, two Great White Sharks have managed to survive the trip and make their way up the Mississippi River somehow. Believed to have started as a mating couple, the two are assumed to have swam the 920 mile journey from the mouth of the Mississippi River that is connected to the Gulf Of Mexico. Officials in Saint Louis have contacted the Missouri Conservation Department and will likely have a team in the river soon to capture the two lost sharks.
